This module will allow students to understand the application of Big Data to sports performance. The role of data analytics in modern high-performance sports in injury risk mitigation, performance and athlete welfare enhancement. The module will discuss how Big Data should be used in a real-world context, how it can assist in decision making and how it can improve the efficiency of data management procedures. Students will also be introduced to the main responsibilities of the Head of High Performance in relation to data collection management, storage and analysis.
module will address the most effective strategies to improve the likelihood of young athletes developing into high performance team-sport athletes. Important concepts like “maturation”, “early specialisation” or “talent identification” will be discussed in detail. Furthermore, this module will explain how the Head of High Performance can: 1) assist in the integration of the different departments with the goal of optimising the long-term athletic development pathway of young players; and 2) help shape a club’s identity and culture, where all people involved understand their role toward the long-term goals of the organisation and its athletes.

ESEI uses the project-based learning and assessment methodology across all modules taught in our master programs. This means that you will work together in groups to develop projects that require creativity, team work, and problem-solving skills.
The main benefit of Project-Based Learning is that by the time you graduate, you will essentially have a portfolio of work to show which will be directly applicable to what you’ll be doing as a future employee or business owner.
It’s up to the teacher to decide on the format of the project – it can be a case study, a written report, a video, a role-playing activity, a podcast, or any other kind of media that gets your point across. The teachers create the project briefs and oversee the progress that teams are making week after week with regular check-in points.
