Developing women leaders in sports

A Call to Action to Support Women in Sports

The sports world has been slow to change when it comes to gender equality. While there have been significant strides in many areas of society, the sports industry has lagged behind.

One of the most significant challenges women face in the sports world is the persistent gender gap in opportunities and resources. Women’s sports have historically been undervalued and underfunded, leading to fewer opportunities for women to participate at all levels of competition.

Another challenge for women in sports is the persistent bias and discrimination that takes many forms, from the unequal treatment of female athletes in terms of pay and media coverage, to harassment and abuse that many women in the industry have reported experiencing. This bias and discrimination can make it difficult for women to succeed in sports, both as athletes as coaches and administrators—and as professionals who use their expertise outside of professional athletics.

We believe that everyone should have access to sport regardless of gender identity or expression. We are excited to announce the launch of our Women in Sports Campaign, and we’re calling on you to join us in changing the way society views women in sports—and how we approach gender equity in all aspects of life.

Funding Women in Sports

We are announcing a Women in Sports Scholarship which will address the persistent funding gap that many female athletes face. By providing financial support, ESEI hopes to make it possible for more women to pursue their athletic dreams and achieve success in the sports world.

Educating Women in Sports

We have three years of experience and we are committed to supporting women in sports by encouraging more women to study our Master in Sports Management  and Master in Master in Performance and Health Management programmes. Currently, the programme has 14% of female enrolment, and our goal is to inspire more women to enrol and make a greater impact in the sports business.

In order to achieve this goal, we plan to create inspiring initiatives that will encourage more women to consider careers in sports management. By highlighting the success stories of female sports industry leaders and offering resources and support for aspiring women, we hope to break down the barriers that have traditionally prevented women from pursuing careers in the sports world.

Building a Community for Women in Sports

We create a supportive environment that empowers women to succeed in their careers and make a meaningful impact in the sports industry. We offer mentoring services to women in sports, providing guidance and support so they can navigate the unique challenges they face in the sports industry.

This mentorship is part of our International MBA in Sports Management and is offered in collaboration with industry leaders and tailored to meet the specific needs and challenges that women in sports face.

ESEI is also planning to obtain a TEDx license and host events that highlight the significance of gender equality in the sports industry. Our aim is to facilitate conversations that showcase insights and experiences from our community. We hope to foster a dialogue that addresses discrimination against women at all levels and in all industries. By sharing real-world examples of these experiences, we can learn from them and work to create a more inclusive and equitable society.
