This module gives you some insight into the vast world of sports media, looking at how media coverage of sport has evolved and the reality of today’s landscape. You will explore how digital has changed the game of sports communication, looking at journalism, broadcasting and production, audio and visual storytelling and social media. It also dedicates some time to specifically consider media law and ethics.
Learning objects of this module include providing you with a big picture view of the sports media industry and to help provide analytical skills, knowledge and concepts on a variety of different sectors for better understanding of sports media and PR theory and practice.
Topics include: sports journalism; broadcasting industry practice; issues of race and gender, sports journalism and social media.
