Empowering the Next Generation of Women Leaders in Sports

Apply Now for October 2025!

Why Women in Sports Matter More Than Ever

The world of sports is dynamic, passionate, and powerful—but when it comes to gender equality, it still has a long way to go. Women continue to face barriers in funding, visibility, leadership, and access. According to UNESCO, just 5% of sports media coverage focuses on women’s sports — and that’s outside of major events like the Olympics. Even more striking, not a single woman appears on Forbes’ 2024 list of the 50 highest-paid athletes. Whether on the field, behind the scenes, or in the boardroom, women are underrepresented and often under-supported.

At ESEI, we believe in changing this narrative. We believe in empowering women to lead, innovate, and thrive in the sports industry—not just as athletes, but as business leaders, entrepreneurs, media professionals, agents, and changemakers.

Inspired by Women Who Are Changing the Game

We celebrate the women in sports who are not only breaking boundaries but also reshaping the entire industry—from boardrooms to locker rooms, and everywhere in between. These changemakers are redefining what leadership, resilience, and excellence look like in sports across the globe. Their stories inspire the next generation of women to dream big, push harder, and claim their space in the sports world.

Here are a few of the women in sports we admire

Nadine Kessler

Former Ballon d'Or-winning German footballer, now UEFA’s Head of Women’s Football. A leader in shaping the future of women’s football in Europe.

Serena Williams

One of the greatest tennis players of all time and a voice for gender equality, business investor, and advocate for Black maternal health.

Fatma Samoura

First female African Secretary General of FIFA, leading reforms in diversity and inclusion.

Sania Mirza

Former world No. 1 doubles tennis player and one of India's most influential female athletes; a role model for women in Muslim and South Asian communities.

Marta Vieira da Silva

Six-time FIFA World Player of the Year, she’s known not only for her skill but also as a global voice for women's football and equality.

Cristina López Pérez (Cristinini)

A top Spanish Twitch streamer and esports reporter, with over 3.2 million followers. She was named one of Spain’s most influential streamers and won Best Esports Reporter in 2021.
