A Semester of Discovery and Achievement for Our Tecnológico de Monterrey Students at ESEI Barcelona
- Categories Field Visits
- Date 19 de January de 2026
Since arriving in September, our exchange students from Tecnológico de Monterrey have made the most of their time at ESEI International Business School Barcelona. In just a few months, they have engaged with the city, explored new academic interests and developed valuable professional skills that will support their future careers. Their semester reflects the essence of the ESEI experience, where learning is closely linked to real world insight, cultural curiosity and personal growth.
Industry Visits that Put Learning into Practice
One of the highlights of their semester has been a series of company visits designed to connect classroom theory with professional application. At CISO Global, Jaume Giró i Giró and Veltech AI, students gained first hand exposure to cybersecurity operations, technological development and automation processes. These visits helped them understand how innovation is shaping business strategy and allowed them to observe industry challenges from multiple angles.
They also took part in an Agile Framework Workshop that strengthened their ability to collaborate, organise tasks and manage projects effectively. These skills will serve them well in any international business environment.
In addition to these experiences, they completed another field visit where they explored the operations of one of Catalonia’s well known brands, Cacaolat. This visit provided useful insight into production processes, product development and long standing market presence within the region.
Exploring Smart Innovation in Barcelona
Barcelona continues to be recognised as Spain’s top smart city and one of Europe’s most innovative hubs. The students experienced this firsthand through their visit to the Smart City Expo World Congress and their trip to the F1 Circuit, both of which offered a closer look at how technology, sustainability and engineering are influencing modern urban development.
Their engagement with the city’s tech ecosystem grew further during an intensive coding immersion programme at 42 Barcelona Fundación Telefónica. The campus is part of a wider initiative supported by Fundación Telefónica, the Generalitat de Catalunya and Barcelona City Council, created to prepare tomorrow’s digital talent for technology driven careers.
Throughout the week, students worked through demanding tasks focused on Python, Linux and other essential programming foundations. The peer to peer model encouraged them to reason through problems independently while collaborating closely with fellow learners.
Their reflections show how meaningful the experience was.
Tanit Pacheco shared: “This course helps us reinforce our programming skills. It teaches the basics of Python in a way that is clear and practical. I think everyone today should have at least some knowledge of coding and Python is a great place to start.”
Gabriel Enrique Armas Azar added: “A general understanding of coding is important because we are living in a technological era. It is useful to know how to code both for personal development and for work.”
These comments reflect not only what they learned, but also the confidence they gained while applying new skills in a real learning environment. This mirrors ESEI’s commitment to preparing students for the demands of today’s business landscape.
Exploring Culture and Expanding Horizons
Beyond their coursework, the students embraced the chance to discover Spain and Europe. They visited Tarragona and Girona, gaining insight into the region’s history and culture. They also travelled to Belgium and the Netherlands, where they experienced new business contexts and cultural perspectives.
After their final exams, the students conclude the semester with a study trip to Andorra before returning to Barcelona to celebrate their achievements at the ESEI graduation ceremony.
Final Thoughts
This semester has been a journey of exploration, learning and personal growth for our Tecnológico de Monterrey students. Through hands-on experiences, industry insights, cultural immersion and challenging academic projects, they have developed skills and perspectives that will guide them in their future careers. Their curiosity, dedication and engagement have enriched the ESEI community, and we are proud to have witnessed their achievements throughout this memorable semester.
