And Why Barcelona is an Ideal City to Grow Your Sports Career
In the bustling city of Barcelona, where sports are a way of life, Malek Mansour is carving a path that blends passion and innovation. As an alumnus of the ESEI Business School, Malek has transitioned from a student of sports management to a dynamic force within the industry. His story is not just one of personal achievement but of community building and inspiring the next generation to explore careers in sports.
Malek’s transformative journey began at ESEI Business School, a renowned institution for business education in Spain. Enrolling in the Master in Sports Management Programme, he was keen to immerse himself in the principles of sports business, ethics, and law. The programme offered more than academic learning; it was an international experience that broadened his horizons. “ESEI equips students with a comprehensive understanding of how to manage a business in sports,” he recounts. During his studies, Malek not only honed his skills but also met individuals who shared his enthusiasm for sports, including his future partner in both life and business.
Studying in Barcelona, Malek found himself in a city where the passion for sports is palpable. The vibrant sports culture of Barcelona served as a perfect backdrop for his aspirations. The city is a milieu where opportunities in sports are as prevalent as its historic landmarks. “Barcelona is not just a city; it’s a sports hub in Europe and globally,” Malek asserts.
Here, he saw potential not only in traditional sports like football but also in emerging trends like paddle—a sport rapidly gaining popularity. Inspired by this culture, Malek co-founded Premier Paddle BCN just outside the city, offering a luxury paddle experience complete with courts, a gym, and a café.
“ So you can come in, have some lunch, play some paddle, meet some coaches, meet some friends, go to the gym. We’re happy to open our doors to all of the ESEI students, alumni, and staff to come and join us,” Malek notes.

The city’s infrastructure, renowned sports events, and thriving community make it an ideal location for launching a sports career. Whether it’s attending a thrilling FC Barcelona match or visiting the Olympic Stadium, the opportunities are endless. “The city offers a fertile ground for sports careers, with every corner brimming with possibility,” he shares.
