Events fall 2019: here’s what we’ve got in store for you

01 35a

Autumn 2019, here we come!

This semester is going to be packed with fun events in and outside of our school. As much as we love everyday life at our campus, we also want to make sure our students have the chance to participate in all kinds of activities, including workshops, talks by expert speakers, guided visits and community gatherings.

It’s not just about developing professionally and laying the foundations of your career – it’s also about having fun and making friends along the way! Here’s what we’ve got planned for you this semester.

2-4 October: Induction week

Our new students will be the protagonists of our annual induction week. We’re organising all kinds of fun activities and challenges to get to know you – and give you a chance to get to know us, too.

On the first day, Wednesday 2 October, we’ll test your reflexes and comradery with a game of Archery Tag. In case you’ve never heard of it: it’s similar to paintball and laser tag but played with foam-tipped arrows and a special bow.

On the second day, Thursday 3 October, we’ll challenge you to participate in our famed Enterprise Challenge. It’s essentially a startup competition where teams have a limited amount of time to come up with a business idea and present how they’d make it work.

Last but not least, on Friday 4 October, we’ll invite you all to a live paella-cooking session. We’ll then have lunch together as a way of closing the long-awaited induction week.

17 October: Workshop – how to prepare for job fairs, interviews and other professional events

At ESEI, we’re deeply invested in making sure that our students are fully equipped for their professional lives once they graduate from our school.

In preparation for the ESEI Career Fair, we’re arranging an intensive workshop to help prepare you for job fairs, interviews and networking events. We’ve invited a consultant who’ll share all their secrets for making a good first impression. They’ll also help you put together an unbeatable CV and have confidence when speaking to companies you’re interested in.

6 November: ESEI Career Fair

Not one semester can go by without our traditional career fair. Once again, we’ll be bringing some of Barcelona’s hottest startups and most coveted companies to the school grounds.

It’s a great opportunity to meet potential employers and practise your networking and interviewing skills. Many of our students have found internships and job opportunities at this event!

You can read a review of last year’s event here.
And if your company would like to sign up for the fair, please email us here.

30 October: Talk by ESEI guest speaker Simone Van Neerven on “Human centered design in the heart of innovation”

We believe that the more perspectives our students are exposed to, the better. That’s why we organise events with expert speakers from outside of our school.

This time, we’ve asked Simone Van Neerven, Head of Innovation at Vueling Airlines and Innovation Catalyst at Chanel, to share her insight on innovation strategies. The event will take place at ImaginCafe. It’s one of Barcelona’s coolest spaces: a café, an event venue, a coworking space and an exhibition hall all packed into one.

6 November: Talk by ESEI guest speakers Lesley Grant and Tia Einarsen on Social Media Marketing

At ESEI we want to give you access to some of the brightest minds in our network. That’s why we’re excited to be hosting Lesley Grant and Tia Einarsen, Co-Founders of the International marketing agency KiCK Global as our next ESEI guest speakers.

Lesley and Tia will touch on a variety of topics related to the impact of social media on businesses and consumer behaviour. Anyone interested in digital entrepreneurship and marketing will have a lot to take away from this exciting talk, organised in partnership with Bumble Bizz.

The location of this event will be the centrally located Movistar Centre, where we held a hands-on workshop about nano-influencer marketing last semester.

4 December: MeltinLab Barcelona (sponsored by ESEI)

We couldn’t be prouder to be sponsoring MeltinLab for the second time in a row. It’s one of the biggest and fastest-growing networking events for entrepreneurs and startup enthusiasts in Barcelona.
After the success of the last MeltinLab event, we’re excited to be participating again. The workshops, panel talks and startup pitches are a must-attend for all ESEI students wanting to start their own businesses one day.

Check out this year’s programme here.

Other events

20th November – Visit to the YEGO garage

We had so much fun visiting the garages and offices of YEGO last year. It’s one of Barcelona’s leading electric scooter-sharing companies and we can’t wait to do it again.

Stay tuned for the announcement of the date!

20th November – Visit to the Barcelona Stock Exchange

The Barcelona Stock Exchange, located on Passeig de Gràcia, is the epicentre of finance in Barcelona. Following last semester’s eventful visit, we’re excited to return and learn more about this iconic place.

Stay tuned to find out when we’re planning our visit!

13th December – End-of-the-year dinner

The autumn semester would not be complete without an end-of-the-year party! Next December, we’ll cheers to the victories – and failures! – of the months behind us and start the New Year on a good note.

Keep an eye on your inbox for the invitation!

Student Council

Of course, we’re always super interested in what our students have to say. And there’s no better place to voice your opinion than the student council. As soon as we have a date for the next meeting, we’ll let you know!

Which one of these events are you looking forward to the most? Let us know and we’ll make sure to organise more of the same kind!
