From Tanzania to Barcelona: Comfort Lambert is Building Something That Lasts
Some people come to ESEI to advance their careers. Others come to build something much bigger than themselves. Comfort Lambert is one of the latter.
Comfort graduated from ESEI International Business School with a Master’s in International Relations and International Business in 2019. In the years since, she has worked across continents, developed educational curricula, supported CEOs, and co-founded a girls’ boarding school in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She is now based in California, pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration with a specialisation in Strategic Management.
Her journey is a reminder of what an international education can set in motion.
Why Barcelona and Why ESEI
Comfort came to Barcelona with a clear sense of purpose. Having completed her undergraduate studies in international business, she wanted to continue building her global perspective in an environment that genuinely reflected it.
“Continuing in an international environment was important to me, and ESEI’s diverse student body and multicultural setting make it an ideal place to build on that experience,” she says. The school’s practical, hands-on approach to learning was equally important. She was drawn to a programme that focused on real-world business challenges and collaboration, not just theory.
Learning to Work Across Cultures
The experience of working in multicultural teams at ESEI shaped how Comfort approaches collaboration to this day. “I learned to communicate with clarity, adapt to diverse working styles, and understand different leadership forms,” she explains. The ability to structure discussions, set clear expectations and draw on different perspectives to reach better outcomes became skills she carries into every professional context she enters.
From Barcelona to Building a Vision
After graduating, Comfort did not follow a conventional path. She interned at an investment company in Barcelona, gaining exposure to financial operations and investment decision-making. She then moved to Olot in Girona, where she worked closely with CEOs on business communication skills.
But alongside her professional work, something else was taking shape. Together with her sister, she had begun developing a long-term vision: to establish a girls’ boarding school in Tanzania.
“This idea gave deeper meaning to my educational journey and motivated me to continue advancing my studies so I could be more effective in building something impactful,” she says. It was this vision that led her to pursue doctoral studies, wanting to strengthen her business, leadership and strategic skills before taking on the challenge of building and running a school.
Micolian Girls Boarding School
By 2023, the vision had become a reality. Micolian Girls Boarding School was officially established in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Comfort co-founded and co-directs the school alongside her sister, with a strong focus on practical, skills-based education that prepares students for real-world opportunities and future leadership.
“The combination of my academic background, international exposure at ESEI, and real-world work experience played an important role in helping me move from idea to execution,” she reflects.
The school represents something rare: an institution built from lived conviction, shaped by years of academic study, international experience and a genuine belief in what education can do for young women.
The Skills That Stayed
Looking back on her Master’s, Comfort identifies four skills she still draws on daily: research, relationship building, strategic thinking and communication.
“The programme strengthened my ability to approach decisions through research and evidence, which also developed into a lasting interest in research itself,” she says. Strategic thinking continues to guide how she plans and makes long-term decisions, while communication allows her to clearly express ideas and align people around shared goals. The relationships she built during her time at ESEI remain a foundation of her professional network.
What She is Working on Now
Comfort is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration at Belhaven University, specialising in Strategic Management, where her focus is on contributing meaningfully to scholarly work and evidence-based decision-making.
At the same time, her commitment to Micolian Girls Boarding School continues. She is actively working to strengthen its academic structure and expand its reach, staying true to the vision she and her sister have been building for years.
Her Advice to Current Students
“Have confidence and think outside the box,” she says. “Don’t be afraid of the vision and goals you have. Be bold in pursuing them and focus on turning your dreams into reality. Trust the process, stay consistent, and believe in your growth along the way.”
She also emphasises the importance of people. “Invest in building strong relationships and networks, because the people you connect with can play a key role in your personal and professional journey.”
It is advice that reflects exactly how she has lived her own.
