December at ESEI: Highlights and Achievements from the Month
- Categories Academics
- Date 16 de January de 2026
December was an exciting and enriching month at ESEI International Business School Barcelona. Our students and community participated in a variety of activities that combined hands-on learning, professional insights, and creative thinking. Here’s a recap of what happened.
Project-Based Learning with Freeda Language Space
Students from the Master’s in Business Management, International Relations, and International Business programmes visited Freeda Language Space. This event was part of the Project-Based Learning experience for the “Strategy and Environment” course, led by Professor Sergio Sanjuan.
During the visit, students applied theoretical concepts to real-world business scenarios, gaining practical experience and developing strategies in a dynamic, collaborative environment. The session provided a unique opportunity to link classroom learning with professional practice, reinforcing key skills in business strategy and decision making.
Insights on Digital Disruption in Sales and Marketing
We also welcomed guest speaker Ygal Levy, EMEA Manufacturing Managing Director at Microsoft, to the Digital Disruption in Sales and Marketing class, led by Professor Arie Elbelman. Ygal shared insights, examples, videos, and case studies, followed by a lively Q&A session with students.
The discussion explored how digital disruption had transformed sales for major companies such as Microsoft and examined the impact of new AI tools on sales departments. Students gained a clear understanding of the trends shaping the future of marketing and sales, and the practical implications for businesses navigating a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Innovation in Hospitality: Learning Walk to W Barcelona
Our Tourism and Hospitality students experienced first-hand what it takes to run an iconic five-star hotel during a learning walk to the W Hotel Barcelona. As part of the Innovation in the Hospitality Industry course, led by Professor Tim Wekezer, students met with hotel staff and observed operational practices, guest services, and innovative approaches to luxury hospitality.
This was the students’ first interaction with the hotel team, and they then developed projects throughout the course to propose innovative ideas directly to the hotel. This hands-on experience bridged theory and practice while nurturing creativity and strategic thinking in the hospitality sector.
Youth Entrepreneurship Bootcamp
ESEI also hosted local high school students for the Youth Entrepreneurship Bootcamp. Participants explored the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and built skills in business management. The bootcamp provided an engaging introduction to business concepts and encouraged young learners to think creatively about future career opportunities.
Tec de Monterrey Students Complete Their Semester at ESEI
December also marked the end of the semester for our exchange students from Tecnológico de Monterrey. During their time at ESEI, they took part in classes, projects, and academic activities, fully immersing themselves in ESEI’s international environment. Their semester in Barcelona concluded with the successful completion of their programme and a graduation ceremony to celebrate their achievements.
ESEI Staff Christmas Lunch
On December 18th, the ESEI team gathered at Masia Vilallonga in Sant Cugat for our annual Staff Christmas Lunch. It was a great opportunity to celebrate the end of the year together, reflect on everything achieved in 2024, and enjoy time as a team in a warm and festive atmosphere. A simple but meaningful moment that reflects the strong sense of community at ESEI.
Looking Ahead
December marked a strong close to 2025 at ESEI, reinforcing our commitment to connecting academic learning with real-world experience. Through project-based learning, industry exposure, guest lectures, and youth engagement initiatives, students continued to develop the skills, perspective, and confidence needed for their professional journeys.
As we move into 2026, we do so with clarity, momentum, and ambition. Building on the foundations laid this year, we look forward to expanding opportunities for collaboration, strengthening industry connections, and continuing to deliver meaningful, practice-driven learning experiences across all our programmes.
